Wednesday Afternoon

So Gage and I get to the therapy department and I am greeted my Danielle right off the bat. She is munching on Dairy Queen, attempting to taunt me. Today is the day that DQ is opening, as it closes for the winter season. What she doesn't know is that I had totally planned on treating my group to DQ heaven today :) Gage is bouncing off the walls at this point. He is in such a sensory overload after having his skating lessons, that I am actually afraid his OT will want to cancel.

Miss Merri comes walking out with Cote and she is all ready for Gage. I am nervous for her, and relieved at the same time, because nothing got broke in the waiting room. I sit Cote down next to me on the little couch and chat until Justine, Melissa and Bo come tromping in to join us. Bo looks like he is completely full of naughty, and Melissa quite happily confirms this. He starts basically trying to torture Mel, so I go to snag him from her and give her five minutes of air, when Cote scootches off the couch. She lands on her rear, but scares the dickens out of herself. She flops over and starts wailing and screeching at the top of her lungs. She is so hugely dramatic that I can't help but laugh until I almost pass out. She continues to cry and yell "no no no" at me and make me feel like the worst mother ever, yet I cannot stop laughing at her little "drama queen" self.

We wave at Justine as she is headed out the door, and a couple seconds later she comes back to regretfully inform me I have a flat tire. WHAT! Ugh! I set Cote on the floor with my necklace and Melissa joins her with Bo. So outside I go. One super nice thing about Goldie is that she has a built in air compressor. I stand out in the parking lot and start airing the darn thing up! I get it all full and head inside to start getting everyone all bundled up to go. Miss Merri comes out with Gage. They both have a crazy look in their eyes. I ask how it went and she does me that yes indeed, Gage is a bit wild today. She does think it is a good thing, because this way they can work on coping strategies. We get everyone loaded up in the car and buzz over to Dairy Queen. We get all of our food and get some for Mel's little guy who is home sick, and some for my Keith. Next we head to the grocery store so Melissa can grab a couple of things quick. I hand Gage back his food, and look at Bo and Cote. It just does not seem fair. Sure, they ate at Speech Therapy, but it doesn't seem like it's fair to sit in the van and have all of us eating fries and burgers in front of them. I want to cry, but instead decide that come Hell or high water, by the end of summer, these kids will be eating french fries in the van. I don't care if they smear them on the windows or my van looks like the bottom if a takeout bag, they WILL get to eat food in the van!!!! So I guess you get to hear it here first... BY SEPTEMBER 2012, BO AND COTE WILL BE EATING FRIES IN THE VAN!!!! Well, I hope.

Melissa comes out and we head to her place to drop her off. I am attempting to drive and much on my chicken strip basket, so she decides to have mercy on me and hold it for me. Maybe 5 minutes later, she drops it, lol. She had a bit of a delayed reaction, and for a second there I got to watch as terror registered on her face. I LAUGHED SO HARD! I seriously thought I was going to pass out! She scrambles and saves all but a chunk of chicken nugget and like 2 fries. It was definitely not as bad as I thought it was going to be. We get to her place and she goes to get out and discovers that the gravy spilled all over the handle of her grocery bag! YES!!!! Hahahaha!!!! Another laugh attack later and she gets me back by eating what was probably the best fry in my basket :(

As we are driving the rest of the way home, I start to feel me van shaking... NOOOOO!!!!! I pull over and sure enough, that tire is flat!!! I throw on the hazards, and get out to air the darn thing up again. As I am airing it up, I hear the whistle of air escaping it. NNNOOOO! I call my hubby at home and tell him what is going on. He says he will be there shortly, he has to find the special tool you need to take the anti-theft lug nuts off. Whaa? It is 12:45pm at this time, and he has to be to work at 3:30pm. Ugh. So I wait and about 30 minutes later he arrives. With no tool. It is lost. Seriously. So what we end up having to do is air up the tire, drive a quarter mile, air up the tire, drive a quarter mile, ect... the entire way home. From where I was, it would have usually been a 10 minute drive. Instead it was 3 hours! Needless to say, he ended up having to call in so he could get his family home. The kids all screamed and cried the entire time. They were tired, sick of being in car seats and they were hungry.

We finally get home and Keith helps me haul everyone in, change them, make sippies and bottle, and feed them. I am so thankful he is at home at this point, that I could just cry. After this is done, he starts making phone calls to see who sells this tool. No one. He sets up and appointment to bring it to a local shop in the morning, but sadly he is going to have to get it there the same way we got it home. Poor Keith. He is such an absolute good sport and he is so patient with us. Sometimes I wonder how I got so lucky... or how he did ;)

  1. So there we were, just sitting in the waiting room. In that 30 minutes it would seem like all hell broke loose. Haha...never a dull moment with these kiddos. As you can see Rachel got a picture of Bo trying to slap some sense into me! It didn't work. I have to give myself some credit for not getting mad or crying. Instead I just laughed hysterically. That is now one of my favorite pictures of all time...truly priceless.
After all the drama in the waiting room it was finally time to head out and get to Dairy Queen!!! It was a wonderful treat (thanks boss!). It was also a gravy nightmare (thanks boss, but with sarcasm this time).
